Have you experienced blurry text after upgrading to Windows 10? This is because MS have changed their way of handle display scaling. It seems like people are experiencing different kind of problems and solutions out there. Some fixes work for some, other must customize more, so you have to try which is correct for you.

Upgrade your graphic driver

This is what you should try first of all. Check if your graphic driver is updated to latest driver version by opening device manager and double click display adapters. Right-click underlying graphic card and select update driver software….

Change text scale

Easiest fix is to just adjust text scaling in settings to 100%

For many users, this will be sufficient to solve the blurry text.

Change display scaling on high DPI settings

If you experience problem only with some applications, you have the possibilities to right-click your shortcut icon and select “Properties”, then tab “Compatibility”. Then enable “Disable display scaling on high DPI settings” and hit OK.

Modify register

For other we have to do some scripting. We will create a script and add it to the login hook. Create a text file and add the following commands:
REG ADD “HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop” /v DpiScalingVer /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00001018 /f
REG ADD “HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop” /v Win8DpiScaling /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001 /f
REG ADD “HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop” /v LogPixels /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000078 /f
and save it. Open the Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc in the search bar. In “User Configuration”, click on Windows settings, and scripts (logon/Logoff). Double-click Logon and add your script. This may not work first time, but should work the next time and you will need Administrator privileges to be able to edit the register.
With the following settings:
REG ADD “HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop” /v LogPixels /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000078 /f
You are setting your text scaling to 120 DPI which is 125% (0x00000078 is the hex number for 120). The following settings can be used if you prefer other scaling factors:

Hex DPI Scaling
0x00000048 72 75%
0x00000060 96 100%
0x00000078 120 125%
0x00000090 144 150%
0x000000C0 192 200%

With this method, you will not be able to change your text scaling in windows menus, so please remember how to remove the logon script from group policy editor (gpedit.msc). Hopefully, MS will create a fix for this in a later upgrade.
